Four Things Friday: Army | Richmond Pictures | Updates |Ashburn Farm 10k Race Report

It's been a long time since I've posted!  But being that today is the day where I am most exhausted and yet, rested; all my Thanksgiving stuff is put away and Christmas has arrived, I figured it was time for an update!
  1. ARMY Ten Miler:  As I mentioned in an earlier post, I got to run the ARMY Ten Miler this year.  It was as predicted, my comeback race.  I was lucky to get to run it with this girl and my first goal was to finish, with a secondary goal of < 90  minutes.  I succeeded!!

2.  Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon & 8k: When out to brunch with some of my teammates, we contemplated; how fun would it be to spectate the race?  Very.  This pre-race dinner may have been the best ever (ie. no jitters from us).  (If you raced, my pictures are HERE)

  • 3.  Updates:  Since running the Run for the Parks 10k, I've been feeling good. I've been able to resume my speedwork in the pool, and have been feeling good.  The result:
  • 4.  Ashburn Farm Turkey Trot 10k:  I decided to run it to compare to the Parks 10k I ran in Sept. When I ran that one I hadn't been doing any speedwork. I was expecting a 10 minute pace, but wound up with a 7:45 (48:11).  Since that race, I started doing speedwork in the pool consistently and went into the race, hoping for 46:xx.  I thought as long as I ran comfortably, I could do it.  I was right:

Next up?  Jingle All the Way 8k!

  • Happy Thanksgiving! (sorry for the format issues, I was having trouble with it and wound up just giving up!)

    1. Outstanding! Congrats on your race! I guess speedwork in the pool does make a difference. Nice job, Cheryl!

    3. Awesome Cheryl!! :) Sorry I missed seeing you in Richmond (I did the half)- I saw one of your CAR teammates during the race and told her to tell you I said "Hi". :)
I had some right leg soreness after Chicago that kept me off my legs longer than I wanted, so my Richmond time was slow (1:47), but, leg is better now, and I'm trying to get my weekly mileage back up and get ready for the New Years' Day 5K in Reston. Hope to see you again soon!! xoxo
